In a final report issued Tuesday on the February Freeze, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the North American Reliability Corp called on natural gas producers and electric grid operators to coordinate efforts to weatherize the grid and prevent another winter freeze, reports Reuters.
The regulators said 87% of unplanned generation outages due to fuel issues were related to natural gas – mostly production and processing problems – while the other 13% involved issues with other fuels like coal or fuel oil.
