Cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly urgent topic in the electric and utilities sector, with some fearful that a sophisticated hacker may be able to cause widespread blackouts across the nation’s power grid. For now, hackers appear to only be after money and private data, according to Utility Dive.
“If they wanted to go after the OT networks, from a sabotage standpoint, that’s an act of war,” said Lila Kee, general manager for GlobalSign’s North and South American operations. “And I don’t think even some of the biggest state actors are going to poke that bear.”
