A recent study shows that painting wind turbines black can reduce the rate of bird impact by more than 70%, with just one black blade reducing collisions by up to 50%, addressing a prominent concern surrounding wind energy expansion, reports E&E News.
The report is welcome news for the U.S. wind industry. While annual bird death is far greater from power lines, oil wastewater pits and domestic cats, the study presents a viable solution for wind energy companies as they continue their rapid expansion across the nation.
