Some oil industry officials are beginning to grow impatient with the Trump administration’s pandemic response as increasingly urgent ideas are proposed to prop up oil producers, according to Politico.
The administration has bounced around plans to buy oil for the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, suggested paying oil producers not to produce oil, and considered using the Treasury Department to lend money to struggling producers.
“This is whack-a-mole stuff,” said one official, “There’s a huge interest to ‘do something’ to help. But it all sounds good until step two.”
