With winds reaching 150mph, Hurricane Ida made landfall as one of the strongest hurricanes in U.S. history, knocking out all 8 transmission lines which power New Orleans, reports the Associated Press.

Some of the hardest-hit areas may not see a return of power for weeks, according to power officials.
