New research shows that adding transmission connections between the East and West power grids would lower the costs of electricity across the nation while boosting reliability, reports Utility Dive.
Connections between the two grids would allow wind, solar and natural gas-fired generation to flow more freely across broad regions, lowering costs by allowing sources of high energy production to supply power to regions of high energy use.
