  • Clean Energy Accounted for 77% of Generating Capacity Added to the Grid in 2021

Nearly 28GW of new generating capacity was added to the U.S. grid in 2021, 12% more than the previous year, with wind and solar accounting for 41% and 36% of that growth respectively, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Texas saw a huge proportion of those gains, with 8,139MW of generation capacity added to the state grid, equivalent to 29% of the nation’s total.
