Supply chain issues have been hitting the nation hard since the start of the pandemic, and shortages have only worsened in light of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Small, family-owned businesses are often the worst hit, but by using manure biodigesters, some dairy farmers have found a way to turn cow manure and food waste into electricity that can be sold back to the grid, reports Modern Farmer.
In 2021, biodigesters nationwide generated 1.73 million megawatt-hours, enough to power 86,500 houses.
